Below are six case studies that give you an overview of how our service helps our clients, based in different industries, to work more efficiently by hiring us to do their transcription.
We are hired by HR departments and consultants, including a major international airline, when they need transcripts of recordings of meetings, interviews, telephone conversations etc. These can include employee reviews, disciplinary, grievance, appeal or termination of employment interviews.
The transcripts can then be used in follow up meetings, or for employment tribunals.
Hiring us saves the departments and consultants time and money, as they do not have staff tied up with transcription work.
When looking to re-brand a company, one of the first things an agency needs to do is interview both the management, staff and customers of that company to find out how they see the business now and where the see it in the future.
Audio recordings are made of the interviews and workshops, which then needs to be transcribed.
We are hired by a major international branding agency to transcribe their recordings, ensuring that all the useful information to come out of the sessions is documented accurately.
Legal companies hire us when they need transcripts of audio recordings, usually of meetings, interviews or telephone conversations to be used in employment tribunals or other cases.
Often an employment tribunal will request a professional transcript is made of the recordings, so we are hired. Also, hiring us, is far cheaper and saves a lot of time, compared to having one of their own paralegals or similar doing the work.
Researchers ask us to provide verbatim transcripts of interviews that they have recorded. We are also often required to ensure that anything that could identify the interviewee be removed or anonymised.
One of our clients is the London School of Economics, who have stated: "If you wish to have a transcript made of your event we recommend using The Audio Typing Service. They have a long experience of transcribing LSE events..."
TV DOCUMENTARY MAKERS
TV documentary makers hire us to transcribe what is said in the programmes, to provide them with a "script" (including time stamps for significant events).
The resultant script allows them to make edits where need be, or if the series is sold abroad, the script can be translated into other languages for subtitling or dubbing.

We are often hired by biographers, who interview people for a book, or have been hired by a famous person to "ghost write" an autobiography.
When interviewing people they make a recording and we provide a transcript so that can take direct quotes easily from what was said.
Below is a slide-show of some of the books we have been hired to help on. If you own any of these books, look in the Acknowledgements for "Ashley Price" or (our old name) "APA Secretarial". (We have been involved with many others, but were not mentioned within.)
